Title: mk2 golf 8v steering column in a 16v ?

Hi there,
im currently looking for a steering column with UJ for my 1989 mk2 Golf Gti 16v k-jet
i have been offered one which comes from a 8v 1990 MK2 golf Gti.
But was wondering if this would fit in my car all okay ?
