Title: oil sensors
Post by: oakgreengolf on 17 January 2008, 19:36
Bought another golf spares or repair needing the cvs doing also with oil lights flashing and buzzing which i thought would be the sensors, Ive changed the sensors which i got from gsf (can i confirm the brown one goes on the side of the block and the white one goes on top of the oil filter. Ive flushed the oil and changed it. The MFA for the oil has now started working and is showing a oil temp of 160 which is very high and light is still flashing. Any suggestions,

i thought the brown one goes in the oil filter housing and the white one on the side off the head ,i would use genuine ones ,the aftermarket ones aren't that good

I realise the gsf ones arn't too good but i dont want to spend alot if engine is nackered.

think ill check the oil pickup in the sump for blockages, failing that a new oil pump maybe?

Do you mean its showing 160 degrees in error, or the oil is actually getting that hot (I doubt it!).

Could it be an earthing issue?

Can't see this either as i had just changed the oil along with the sensor. Would this cause the buzzer/ light to flash if its a dodgy earth, or is the buzzer/ light for pressure. It does sound a bit tappety maybe its the oil not circulating?? Dont really want too spend too much on it so ill check the connections again tonight.  Its all good fun

Yeah buzzer/light is for pressure.... Does it do it all the time, or only over 2000rpm? I had this once and it was a dodgy connector onto the sensor. I cut it off and crimped a new one one.

Well happy all has gone well today   dropped the sump took the oil pump off and found my problem, it was completly nackered wouldn't even turn!!. A trip to gsf for a new pump and its sorted no light or buzzer. my only issue now is how to get the oil temp to work on the mfa keeps showing 160
