I think its great that they can do that with a diesel!
But hang on why would you buy one??? So you can save a few pence when your driving up and down the M1 like a rep? Plus the fact that diesel is more expensive, and the car is probably going to be more expensive than the petrol version (too lazy to check that). And then to loose the sound of a v8... the more i think about it, the less sense it makes!! Im sure your friends will have a nice little giggle when you tell them you got a R8 diesel.
Petrol all the way thank you!!

So,
If you could have a V6 TDI R32 with 298bhp instead of 250bhp and 549lbft that was faster 0-62mph by nearly half a second and had a 29% better fuel consumption, dropped into the lower tax band and only cost £2k extra - you wouldn't be tempted?
-
 O MY GOD ..... its just took me 15 minutes to type this i keep on going to the toilet every 2 minutes R8 & Diesel . i think i now know what my next cars
gonna wants to be. WHAT A CAR .well done audi.

ok so it's a diesel supercar... impressive. not sure in reality how the diesel would compare to petrol in this particular model.
would have been far more impressed if they had come up with a low/zero emissions supercar
i haven't seen anything as such and think it is high time manufactures proved that high performance doesn't have to be compromised for very low emissions.... happy to be put wrong on this one and shown examples of VAG or other manufacturers who have this at least in concept cars... I know Ford (?) came up with one that was featured, on top gear and that was about the best thing I have seen so far, ran on hydrogen cells I think?
but seriously... we all know why they aren't doing this so why the hell am I wasting breath?

Just in case people didnt read the whole thing that V12 TDi probably wont go to production as there is too much power for the DSG to handdle and it wouldnt be cost effective to engineer a new one. Probs going to have a V8 TDi one instead. Kind of losses its appeal when you put it like that.
Bring on the 500bhp V10 petrol I say !

you are wrong.
First of all, R8 does not really capture me.
Secondly, the diesel one looks terrible (a big fly catcher that front?)
Finally, I am not ready for diesel yet.
I like TTS.
I like Nissan GT-R.

To be totally honest i didnt look at any of the figures quoted as above. Im not a huge fan of the R8 anyway so I dont think the diesel would tempt me any more than the petrol. I think with those figures many people would opt for the diesel over the petrol. But lets be honest... does it not take away the essence of a supercar when you make it diesel??
And as one of the posts above has said that its not going into production, I wont be saving up for one! Nice idea... but im sure my bi-turbo will kick its a$$ lol
-
just to add....i think diesels are becomming a thing of the future? Not to sure about it thou...its gonna be very expensive to maintain a petrol in a few years and i think in a few years petrol will be more of a rich mans car

DIESEL - it's a sad world we now live in

i think diesels are becomming a thing of the future?
especially with more manufactures working with bio, and working on twin turbo engines I can see the diesel lumps giving the petrol a proper run for its money.
after all at the moment, some of the aren't that far behind the petrols, the Mk5 GT Sport TDI is a second slower than the ED30 (both before a remap)
and the new A4 3.0 TDI is quicker (acceleration) than the 3.2 petrol
-
Is it just me or is it a fab looking car let down by some really poor design wheels?
They look so cheap , and really spoil the lines. V8 wheels so much nicer
Besides that what a car
