Title: lowering mk 1
Post by: Thomas on 16 January 2008, 18:16: how low should i lower my mk1 its running 15" wheels i want it as low as possible but still want to able to drive it how it should be drove . what kits are best and how much? was looking to spend about Ã‚£300

Post by: BobbyT on 16 January 2008, 18:28: i dropped my mk1 60mm all round on 15 by 7.5 wheels with an offset of 25 - had no problems with rubbing but i never carried back seat passengers, could have gone lover but kept bumping my exhaust manifold off things :wink:

You should easily be able to lower it for Ã‚£300 but what's the best is another debate. I spent about Ã‚£120 to buy a kit from Euro car Parts called something like "Streetline" or something. For that price it included Bilstein shocks and the springs were from Ventura, which might sound a cheap make but Ventura actually make springs for Eibach. Or you could probably go for some cheaper coilovers and then put it as low or as high as you want.

running a 165/50 tyre, and dropped it about 100/110mm on coilovers with 10mm to go, It DOES scape but only very slight, so could go up 10mm,

its ok...think many people have put tin ones on cabs..
but there is a difference..im sure someone with a more technical background can either say im full of b0llix or confirm...but I have def seen dif springs for a cab..

Sits a tiny bit lower at the back (don't all cabs?) but doesn't rub at all, even fully loaded.
