right whats the plot with classic insurance, how old does the car have to be before it qualifies, and is there an age restriction on how old the driver has to be???
-
no idea probably somethin stupid like both the owner and car have to be almost dead
-
Pre 1973 or at least 15 years old...... You have to be over 25, i think, for most companies.

I was quoted on a mk1 golf gti on a classic policy!! (£125 fully comp!)

Think of the maintenance fees though!

yeh i thought there would be somekind of an age restriction oh well as im only 19 i will have to wait a few more years
-
Hello buddy,
we can offer classic policies (depending on all the details) for people aged 19 and over on cars the are 15years old or older
Pm me your number if you want me to give you a bell for a quote
Martin

problem is the car is only just 14 years old, i think i will give you guys a call anyway cos its an audi coupe that im trying to get a quote on but im at college right now so will do it later
-
what is the benefit of classic insurance, is it a lot cheaper or something???
-
Yeah because essentially your saying your insuring a classic car you will ove and cherish, not a boy racer in a brand new saxo on finance. Therefore your less likely to hoon about and bounce OAPs off your bonnet.

I need to do this next time.
Anyone want to tell us what they're paying for classic insurance on a Mk2 (not forgetting how old you are etc)?

See here for comparisons: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=29360.0
(although as i have said before, in my opinion comparisons in this way are fairly pointless as there are soooooooooooooooooo many other factors that can effect it.)

Just insured my Mk2 16v through HIC on a classic policy for the grand sum of £349.00 - thats with no NCB too :)
-
does anybody know if it means limited mileage on a classic policy if so what to ??
-
Limited mileage is going to be 7500 or below, you select what you want and the quote is based on that - Im insured for 2000 miles as its not a daily driver :)
