1.8T i'm guessing??

Go for the 312mm upgrade as fitted to Anni's and Octavia VRS :afro: only need the carriers (i think; either those or the calipers! Can never fecking remember!!) and some discs and new pads and you're good to go.  Source the carriers from a scrappy

As for suspension upgrades fit a rear anti roll bar and then get some uprated shocks and springs; have a look at www.balancemotorsport.co.uk bloke there is very helpful and will advise you best as what will give you a sport yet comfortable ride

I honestly have no idea which cooler would be best. i beleive someone on here has just recently fitted one. their name escapes me at the min.

I just know they give good results with tubby engines.

Someone correct me if im wrong here - if you want a cooler you should get it before you get the remap as i think they can boost you a little more with the cooler air supply.

in an ideal world you'd upgrade every piece of the engine and then get a custom remap to take it all into account.  however as we live in a stupid world full of government stealing taxes we normally just get along by doing bits and bobs when we actually get a spare bob or two

As for the Cooler - GTI Guy just had one fitted; thing it was the Forge one; see here

lol

apparently Max Power are giving away an extra 10 bhp with the new issue too.

I'd go with Rhyso's recommendation, and get the brakes done, having a fast 0-60 is all well and good but when your 60-0 is what going to stop you getting into a crash.

brakes wise you can go straight to the 312 mm but just changing the carrier, disks and pads.

although a carrier new can cost as much as a set from the scrap yard.

if you're thinking of going bigger than 312 mm then you would have to change everything calliper, carrier, pads, disks you can get porche brakes for the MK4 although the R32 (344 mm IIRC) are probably the biggest you'll ever need)

any disk bigger than 312 mm is going to need bigger rims too.

Cosmetically i'd go for a spoiler over the valence (you might already have one), the body kits always look good but IMO you can get as much of a visual change by colour coding the existing valence.

if you've got the TT pedals then is it time to lose the wood too?

cheers ridge ill prob sound thick but what r the carriers and what car would they be off for the 312 mm ??
would i really need to go any bigger than these for say 200 bhp ???

also r u talkin about rear spoiler for the top of the boot ??

I have lost most of the wood just got the doors to do i have also moved stereo down and put a vw cubby hole in looks much better altho i do miss the wood lol   :grin:

the carrier is the peice which holds the pads in place

(https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.oneandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=15478e0b97650a7/shopdata/0015_VW/0030_Golf+MK4/0060_Brakes+and+running+gear/images/300312carrier_350x273.jpg)

new they are £100 (pair) from vag parts, but i got a full set callipers, carriers, disks for £115 from a scrap yard.

cars with the bigger carrier are the octavia VRS, the Leon cupra, S3 and the Audi TT and the anniversary Golf

i think they would be fine for 200 bhp

yeah the stereo looks weird in that slot, and the cup holder is going to interfere with it.

does it matter about specific models for the upgraded carriers?

mk1/mk2 things like that?

if you have a GTI then all you need is the carriers to go to 312mm; also applies to the TDI 130p and 150 as they have the same wheel hubs.

Anything lesser i.e TDI 90, 1.6 and you need to change the hubs as they only have 280mm discs

the fmic your looking at on ebay (xs power) is sh1te, ive delt with thw guy before, so did some of the lads on a pulsar website i know. very ill fitting and does not come complete, also the ic itself is pants, very crude bar and plate design that dosent really cool the charge, also the pipe work is foil like thin

ill steer clear of them then can u recomend any others ????

not really mate, all my alloy products i get custom made by a local motorsport fabrication comany that does f3 and wrc stuff, may get one for mine done and possibly do a group buy.
but i think most people just like to have a fmic for looks rather than fuction, cheaper ones dont really lower charge temps that much compared to the one i may get, but the ones i get will be double the price
