Title: funny smell
Post by: marcogolfo on 24 March 2004, 23:10
hi i just had an oil seal fixed, plus cam belt and alternator v belt and water pump.  Now there seems to be a funny smell coming in through the air vents when i put my foot down.  Its kind of hard to explain, i dont think its oil burning or rubber, its kind of a burning/curry smell.  Man I can't wait for technology to get good enough so as we can put smells online and let other people smell them. lol
anyway if anyone knows or cans uggest what smell this could be, it would be gratefully appreciated
thx
marco

How long have you driven it since the work was done? It could be some lubricant (WD40) burning off maybe?

check over the engine make sure nothings leaking ......
check it all over make sure nothing out of place...... .

i was thinking it isnt the cam or v belts burning!??

you have this work done and if its only started to happen it would make sense!

thx for help
smell was a core plug had bust and water was leaking onto the manifold.  I take it, the antifreeze in the water was creating the queer smell
