just thinking about doing the lower engine mount with the ecs insert, if anyone has done it on a mk5,
does it stop the noisy nocking that happens if the car wheel spins?
and is there anymore noise transmitted through the cabin?
-
Yes, I've done it on the ED30 and my last regular GTi, with the GTi it completely stopped the wheel hop that you talk about even though it was running APR stage 2 and making 262bhp, but with the ED30 it must asking that bit to much, although its helped a great deal its not stopped it completely.
I can't say I've noticed any increase in cabin noise or vibration with either car and for the cost I think its a real worthwhile mod.

Easy to install

Is this a good suggested mod for DSG as well as manual transmission cars ?
Didn't see it on Hurdy's list of mods...

I discounted it with the reasoning that there were reports on the ride quality suffering too much, vibration from smaller ruts in the road etc.
I can't rule it out though, but it's not even near the top of my list yet.

I can't say I've noticed much difference in noise or vibration with the ECS insert

Do you reckon their worth the outlay then?

I've only got the poly torque insert (Neuspeed) fitted and not an ali dog bone. Not a dramatically felt difference but no more broken exhaust mounts so far!
-
think i might save my money and put it towards a quaife slip diff

....Ah ha!! There's a lot of info in that  !!
Quaiffe ATB is very tempting at some stage (IMMEDIATELY after warranty expires! Within hours!!)
-
sounds like a nice peice of kit, just been quoted £1250 for one fitted
RR since when were you bothered about warrantee
-
Quaife do one for the DSG too - QDF19R £675 plus vat (and then fitting)
Amazing what you can pick up at the Autosport show
-
....I'm waiting for Jim at JKM (no hurry though) to rearch the details of how he would install one on the DSG.
Sorry, we seem to have digressed this thread.

Neuspeed has these as well, so do APR (the rubber inserts) . I have the Neuspeed one installed on my Bluefin tuned GTI in Australia at it works a charm. No vibration and no wheel hop good upgrade fopr the cost!
Also I know of a few pople who have done it to tuned and stock DSG's with smoother shifts being achieved with the inserts.

I guess the juddering doesn't do the exhaust flexi joint and mountings any good then,,I might get one and give it a go at the price..
Gazbut, is the power difference between the 262bhp gti and your 298bhp ed30 really noticable, is it just much better all over the rev range?
-
It feels fitter all through the rev range pal, but pulls much stronger up the top end, this is due to the bigger turbo as the regular Gti one runs out of puff a bit up the top end
