i put 5-40 in mine but its drinking it so do you rekon if i put a thicker oil in it will stay there not burn away am affraid al seez my engine coz this is the second time av checked the oil and its bin below the min mark

putting thicker oil is not going to stop it from burning it mate, you need the engine inspecting ,could be valve guides,stem oil seals ,rings etc.what engine is in it

1.8 20v non turbo its ment 2 be a comon to burn that much oil but its costing to much at £20 at a time

whats the mileage on it ,if its high then it will use a lot of oil ,you got any oil leaks from any where ,like the rocker cover ,front and rear main oil seals are both common.if its defo burning it you need to be thinking engine rebuild or replacement 2nd hand engine :smiley:

it dusnt burn that much just that 2month ago i put fresh oil in and its low now its only just under 90 thou on a s plate,i had it on the ramps and check for leaks and the sump nuts were a bit loose so i just torked them up

its 1.8 20v non turbo i have put the wron oil in i should of put 15-30 in and the 5-40 is way to thin

According to the Duckhams booklet, you want either 10W-40 or 15W-40. (Same as the Turbo).
