Got a problem with the locking mech on the passenger door. It comes in that when the button on the fob is pressed to lock the doors the button doesn’t go down, sometimes the door locks with the button up, sometimes it doesn’t lock at all. If I manually press the button down the door locks as one might imagine and pops back up when the unlock button is pressed.
Tomorrow I intend to have a bash at fixing it, as I gotta take the card off to install some speaker pods. My question to y'all is if I remove the metal sheet that the door card clips into will the window drop? This metal sheet appears to have the window mech bolted onto it.
Cheers all

faulty door lock module; time to dig out the soldering iron
and follow this guide:
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1015107 that removes the module
and this one is how to repair it

but to answer your question - support your window as it will fall lol; but the above guide tells you all that :afro:

talk about rapid response.
Cheers Dude
That looks like a complex task. Is it as much of a barsteward as it looks?

happened to pop in to see what was happening lol plus its a very common problem!!
can't honestly say as (so far) i've not had to this.
Removal of the door card should take no more than 10 minutes; the metal sheet around another 30 minutes or so. Main thing is to take your time as there are a few hidden wires or clips that can be easliy broken

Iv done the door card before when i was putting the ICE in. My only concern is that i dont have to relign the window. if its gonna b a pig i dont facny doing it as if all goes wrong i dont have a garage to put it in overnight.
It doesnt say annything about issues with the window in that writeup so it probs be ok. Ill see how confident i am tomorrow.
Thanks again mate

the window isn't clipped in; it just rests inside the plastic or metal clips. realigning the window shouldn't be a major headache
you might want to check which you have as if you have the plastic clips its fairly certain you'll be taking the panel off again to replace them

Is there any way of telling before i get in there (stupid question maybe as i think i know the answer)
I wont be able to get the metal ones on a sun will i, as service dept dont work do they?
fiddle sticks!!!

not true; you only need to remove the door card then remove the rubber inspection covers and drop the window down until you can see the clips; you may need a torch.
But yeah if you're going to tackle the door module and you need to do the clips its best getting the parts first. I'd look for the clips, get them on order if need be and tackle the job another day
