Title: Engine flooding problem
Post by: smithysmoo on 12 January 2008, 13:31
This has happened a few times and its a trifle annoying, any ways round it.

8v PB engine. Usually starts on the key but very occaisionally it will cut straight out and then I have a hell of a job restarting. The engine wil turn for a log time without firing and if it does fire it will cut straight back out. Have managed to get it started eventually but after a good ammount of trying. I can turn the car off and on when its eventually running not a problem.....

Any ideas so I don't get stuck somewhere.

May be damp on your HT leads or dizzy cap. Take all the leads out and spray everything with WD40 and then try it.

Or the temperature sender that controls the cold start might be failing.

Have you replaced the cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs and given it a good service in the past year?

The sensor is the blue two pin connector front of cylinder head facing you as you look at engine,on the black plastic water flange..
