my mk4 has cut out 3 times now, twice while moving and once while i was stopped,on the last oc i fidled around with the key fob it then started,i did drop the key fob last week and it broke in two,any ideas would be much app as i dont trust the local dealer
-
Not sure about your cutting out problem but you could try using your other key for a while just to eliminate that.
A garage once told me that a dodgy fob could cause cutting out. not sure if i beleive that though.

not sure about the key fob but does it say EMISSSIONS WORKSHOP on your computer? if so i had the same problem and it was the spark plugs. hope it helps :undecided:

no mate the only thing thats coming up on the computer is stop and she just shuts down. cheers anyway mate

ref the mk4 cutting out ,it seems to be ok until its been running a while then it cuts out but it does start after a few minutes, anyone know if there is a sensor that might cause this, it looks as if its guna go to my local vw dealer as i trust em[not}cheers fellas

Do you not have any garages that you can have recommended by parents / mates or anything. Im sure your local garage would be able to sort it out at half the price your local stealer will charge you.
Soz I cant help anymore than that :(

I would have thought a bust keyfob would only cause you trouble when starting. Don't think it does much else after that.

im having the same problem although its only happened twice, ive been told that it could be the heat sensor, or ignition coils or maf or a number of other things! keep me posted on what you find and i'll do the same, wanna get this problem soved its annoying me!
-
annoying isnt the word, even considered selling n getting a vauxhall [not],with mine iv been told probable cause heat sensors as it only cuts out when its been running for a while, getting it looked at wedensday, will let you know the outcome mate, cost etc
-
Could be the impulse sender (also called engine speed sensor or camshaft sensor). When mine was acting up it would cut out randomly then refuse to restart until it had been left for a few minutes.
Part costs about 70 quid. If you can do an oil change you'll find its an easy job to replace.
vagcom will confirm if its that sensor or not

cheers for the info mate, much appreciated!, should hopefully find out tomorrow
