Hi I own a 98 vw gti 2.8 and I keep having consisting problems with my drivers side cv axle. I first had a problem with it about 3 months ago when it started making a knocking sound on right corners. It felt like i was driving on little bumps, like the knocking was coming from my tires. A few days later my cv axle just snapped on one of the joints. I fixed it, standard proceedure I bought a new rebuilt cv axle filled it with cv joint grease installed it and i imediateley heard the thunking sound on right turns stilll. Once again the cv axle snapped on the same joint (on the inner cv joint). I fixed it again with another rebuilt cv axle. broke it too within a months. 3 cv axles broke within 3 months... whats going ON????? i cant fix it every month, what could cause this to happen? I have a few mods vf engineering motor mounts, intake, exhaust, sway bar, lowering springs, 17in. wheels, should I buy a higher performance cv axle? any suggestions, or commments greatly apreciated thanks.

Hi I'm just giving an update on my cv axle problem.
Ok first off i couldnt figure out what was causing this problem so i started at the top.
I replaced the cv axle again, making sure everything was secure, torque settings, right amount of grease, everything went fine.
After this was done it seemed fine until i hit about 30 mph + the whole car began to vibrate and shake tremendously at around 50 + mph so i pulled the car home.
Then I ended up replacing the tie rod end. (the old one was cracked on the bushing). But still no improvement.
Next I took the vehicle down to les schwab tire center and had the front wheels aligned. Still no improvement on the virbration.
I was told the problem could be caused from tirre wear or unbalanced wheels so i replaced the bad area with a stock wheel and tire... Still nothing same bs.
Now im stumped, my car feels like the wheel is going to fall off its so bad. what can i do?
The last possible cause i can think of is the transaxle. could this be a possible problem? how much work is it to pull or rebuild? how much would it probably cost if i paid a mechanic? please any information helps, thanks
