.....but not on my drive yet
I received a phonecall on Wednesday to say the car had arrived at the dealers  I went along today to take my retention certificate so that it can be registered and had a quick look over the car and a bit of a blat down to the bottom of the yard and back. It had my numberplate on even though it's not registered yet and seeing it with them on already made it sink in that it was actually mine.
I secured a buyer on the R32 today and they are picking it up Monday all being well  So I'll hopefully be collecting the Edition 30 either Monday or Tuesday. The R32 has been up for sale for about 8 weeks and I've had no real interest until the last 10 days where I've had several enquiries. The timing is just right though and it means that I don't have to drive my boyfriend's spare Mk 2 now!
Full spec:
3 door manual Candy White
Bi-xenons
Sunroof
Armrest
Winter pack
Multi-function steering wheel
RCD 500 + soundpack
Supaguard
A total of 57 days from ordering to delivery at the dealers - not bad in my opinion!
Here's some pics for starters anyway. It was filthy dirty and was parked next to a shiny blue Mk 5 R32 but I tried to look away from that  It has the grand total of 4 miles, which will be a bit more when I pick it up with a tankful (hopefully!) of petrol (I was cheeky and asked for super unleaded too!).

Lovely car GG, very very similar spec to what I'm hoping to order except mine with DSG and no sunroof.
Just wondered if you've spoken to your dealer about this Fixed Price Service Plan which VW are currently offereing? http://www.vw.co.uk/new_cars/servicing
I started a seperate thread about it here to see if anyone has come across it already: http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=73562.0

looks good
i`m in japan right now and all the cars are white
white is starting to grow on me....................
what was the decision to swop from r32 to ed30? you`ve prob already mentioned somewhere but too lazy to search.......
also totally different but anyone seen the nissan gtR? that looks a bit chav but bloomin quick..........

Yeh I've already mentioned it (so many people have asked!)....
Originally I was going for an R32 as a natural progression from what I have. The salesman asked if I'd considered the Edition 30 and I had ruled it out without looking into it thinking it would be too much of a step down from what I had. I decided on the spec of the new R32, got quotes etc. and was ready to proceed when I thought I'd look into the Ed30 just to satisfy myself that I had considered it.
On paper, performance isn't that different and running costs would be cheaper etc. I test drove both cars back to back and the Ed30 impressed me more than I thought it would. I put everything into consideration, weighed up the pros and cons and the Ed30 was the better all-rounder. Sure, I'll miss the V6 burble and the 4WD but the Ed30 ticked all the other boxes.
I also think it looks better than the R32, and has a bit more exclusivity about it. I fancy trying a bit of turbo power as well. If I don't get on with it then the R32 is always there to fall back on, but at least I can say I've tried it and won't look back in the future saying "what if".
-
yeah i agree
aside from the high cost of petrol, parking permit and road tax there`s not a lot wrong with the r32 (although some don`t like the looks)..............................

If R32 were S3 with the price of R32 - I'd get it. I like the TFSI plant.

Looks really good - where did you get a nice day? I haven't seen the firey ball in the sky for a couple of months now!!!
Got a new lambswool mitt today so will get mine cleaned the morn, try and get it as shiny as yours
-
I just found this thread, GolfGirl - Nice pics up on photobucket
Looks like the upper section of rear valance is the same for Ed30 and Mk5 R32.
I think I'd miss that Mk4 R32 V6 sound terribly (having been in a few) but I'm sure you'll love the turbo power and nimble handling.
-
Lovely looking car! Don't think it will be long before the modding will start tho!
-
looks lovely that, very nice golfgirl
-
Very nice. But I like your red MKII also
-
Another fine looking ED30.
The more I see of them, the better they look and the more I am convinced it was absolutely the right decision to buy one.
:smug:
-
I will need to send some pics of my car its covered in dirt and grime the way it should be,these cars are to way to clean.

It was yesterday. I grabbed it whilst it was here and put off my other plans for the day just because I had an opportunity for a clean and some pics!

Yeh I do miss it along with the 4WD but the GTI has things about it that are better than the R32.

LOL, my boyfriend has given me 6 months before it's remapped! I expect I'll find something on offer at one of the upcoming shows!
Very nice. But I like your red MKII also
Cheers, it's my boyfriends and it's the "normal" Mk 2.....his other one is stripped, caged and VR'd!
-
Looks stunning

Got the first mod sorted for my car now - a set of show plates. Here they are:-
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/bluelightbabe/showplates.jpg)
Not tried them out on the car yet but they will be making their debut at Santa Pod next weekend
-
hey they look
i wanted to get the stickers on mine but im running them day to day so i thought id better not  :lipsrsealed:
where did you get them from??
-
The plates came from www.dubmeister.co.uk but I got them from his Ebay shop (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Dub-Meister) because they were cheaper than getting them off his website. The plate holders were off Ebay too, off this person (http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/syblyn_uk).
i wanted to get the stickers on mine but im running them day to day so i thought id better not  :lipsrsealed:
I was quite fussy with the stickers - I wanted red ones to match the red trim on my car! It just happens that the Wolfsburg stickers have red in them too so I think it looks quite good
-
Hi Golfgirl,
Just got my plates from Dubmeister... quality plates, very quick turnaround. Ordered Tuesday night (11pm), here Thursday 9.30am.
Ace!
-
I'll ditto that...ordered mine about 4pm on Monday and they arrived on Weds!
-
....Hey Golfgirl - I don't usually like foreign plates but those look seriously cool. I think it's the surrounds which do it for me. I look forward to seeing them in the flesh at Santa Pod.
-
golfgirl how do the plate surrounds cope with the the standard palte trim all ready on the car?
-
That really is a good looking ED30, both inside and outside. I should have ordered one of those instead of my GTI  Now they have stopped making them, its even more special I suppose
Post a pic with you at the wheel so we get the full picture  !

I don't normally like them either but wanted a set of anonymous plates so that my reg. isn't plastered all over the internet when people take pics at shows. I did think about a "Golfgirl" plate but decided on this one because it resembles a genuine German plate and I thought it was quite appropriate with it being an anniversary edition of a classic German car.

I've not tried them with my normal plate in yet because a) my normal plate has an extension to the bottom of it with the dealers name on and they won't fit with this on and b) I'm not sure I want them on the car all the time because less is more and I just want a plain plate with no other text or graphics so it looks uncluttered.
