Ive taken the golf of the road for about 3 months (no tax left!!), thinking of poly bushing the car, is it worth it / which bushes are best value.
also thinking heater matrix renewal (read a few thing on here should the dash come out or not?), stainless exhaust (Miltec sound the best but expensive any other suggestions), the list is endless!!. just wondering what jobs that are faily straight forward but worth doing. Ive changed the gear linkages but have yet to do the ball under the gear stick which might be my next job. Any other subtle mods too enhance performance, ive done the air box holes.

I've heard a lot that the Powerflex bushes and all other poly-urethane ones are great upgrades to the car's handling but you have to put up with the possibility of creaks and groans! Especially when the hard rubber is cold.

If yours is a 16v, I drilled holes and installed a Power Rohr, costs about £25-30 and i don't know what performance upgrade it gave but it really roared above 3.5k. It enlarges the main intake trunk that comes out of the airbox, as the standard one looks a bit compressed. Availiable for the 8v too.

Heater matrix does need the dash to come out. Is it leaking or your passenger footwell wet? I'd make sure your bypass-valves are working and leave it. The valves were a recall so the passenger's legs wouldn't get burnt with coolant :)
I had a powerflow system fitted previously and it was crap. Read some good review from Milltek owners.
Hope that helps. Very nice looking car btw

The dashboard does not need to come out to do the matrix. (it's just a bit tight)

Had some orange stuff on the shelf bellow the glove box a few months back suspected the matrix but wasn't sure. Heater still works fairly well though. Ive heard of those Power Rohrs might give one a go. ive done the air box thing but not noticed a massive difference i must admit, think ill take it too stealth racing in coventry when i get it back on the road, might need setting up. The vacume air pipes (if you know what i mean) look a bit shabby is it just a case of getting them from vw or can they be got cheaper else where? :undecided:
