Title: mk 4 h/light into mk3

can anyone tell me if I fit mk 4 light to a mk 3 do I need to change the grill

Yes, and the wings, bonnet, electric connections etc. etc.

The closest you will get are MK4 Style lights, othewise known as MK3 'crystals'.
