Title: Exhausts
Post by: xAx on 04 January 2008, 09:51
Well my exhaust sounds like its about to give up the ghost. When i start the car up theres some horrific rattling sound acompanied by even more steam/smoke than usual. There is also a strong smell of petrol, but im not sure thats related?

Anyway, I was wondering what sort of systems people have got on here. Is it worth annihilating my overdraft to get a milltek system?

also any ideas on the petrol smell, ive read that it might be the fuel lines but im not sure what to look for.

I drove my car for 12 months with no backbox, just a bit of tin I welded up into two exits. It had the midbox and the centre straight through. It was pretty goddamn loud but it sounded awesome on idle. It made the car constantly stink of fuel too, but I could live with it.

Basically I was holding out for a bargain, and it took me a long time, but I managed to get a full stainless steel Powerflow exhaust of eBay for £20. Well worth the wait for me ;)

They always check emissions! just allow higher tolerances for old girls like ours! but mine passed before all my engine work and I really didn't think it would!! If the exhaust has holes in it will probably fail.

go on thats why they have overdrafts

Does anyone have a sound clip of an 8v with the milltek exhaust fitted?

I've just fitted a Milltek to mine and say no more it's awesome !!
Had trouble getting hold of it though, had to wait a few weeks for delivery.

So I went all out and ordered the Milltek system, should be with me in a few days. If anyone else is considering buying a milltek I would snap one up now as milltek have just discontinued them.

Had some trouble fitting mine and now it doesn't hang too straight out the back. What are you're thoughts regarding manifolds? Now i need to replace mine as it's got holes in but can't decide wether too buy a standard front section with silencer or a 4 branch stainless. The latter will need to be heat wrapped i believe before it can be fitted. :undecided:
