he might be on abt vdo gauges so u can see oil temp and pressure???
u will need a 2e dizzy or u could use a pb one with spacer...
there is a breather on front of a 2e block, will need plumbing in or blanking off...
cant really say how its running as i got it back late tonight, i got problem with manifold fouling on the bulkhead
-
im running a 2ltre b/e, but shhh!
hasnt been a problem, straight outta a mk3 and straight into the mk2... i say straight... 700£ machining bill on the b/e and had everything skimmed and new seals etc etc, wasnt cheap... either way its fooked now and i want a new engine!
the chap i bought it from had all the work done, but i think the bottom end bearing (if thats what its commonly called) is knocking, and sounds really pants, but performance is still well above a standard mk2 8v digi.
if you get the mk3 block its taller so you may have to chap a small bit off the bottom of your bonnet where the throttle body fouls it..i just smashed the bonnet with a hammer and it dont foul no more

only issue with the conversion you might have is the manifold may hit the bulkhead if you go for a 4 branch, a std MK2 8v zaust will fit perfectly though. I've got an ashley 4 branch on mine now and it still fits fine, though it was like 5" too short so I had to bodge up a joining piece

been told to use the 2e block
dubslug .vdo gauge now its coming back to me cheers mate
thanks for all advice
cant wait to get my block and start building it (new rings and big ends little ends) oh and my fully recon head .
pushing 164thou now i think its time eh

any 2.0 8v block will do, only issue is some have a different dizzy and s o you have to source & fit a 2e one. 2e is the most straightforward for a digifant MK2 though as the std dizzy etc all plugs into the MK2 loom! I used all the 2e alternator & coolant setup too. I had to fit a 2e front coolant flange on the head, and block off the old thin coolant overflow pipe on the top of the rad, I used a short length o pipe with a bolt stuffed in & jubileed in place.
