well after reading the thread yesterday i was put of by the thread stating that you loose 4bhp by fitting this intake. :undecided:
So ive just rang up awesome and the guy said that there is no way you can loose bhp by fitting this system, he said that there will be a small increase of around 2bhp on standard 2.0t and around 4-5 on a remapped 2.0t, but he also said that the increase will be so small that you will not really be able to feel any real difference untill miltek is fitted,
so i ordered one anyway
also he stated that i can have the diverter fitted when we go on the forum rolling road day in april, so ill run it with and without to see any difference, i doubt that there will be much difference in this as its just a stronger system than the standard. Oh and if you didnt know about the RR day at awesome then go in the events section, theres a few ed30 and a few standard gti i think
-
You won't regret it, and you certainly won't lose any power.
When you have the exhaust fitted you will certainly feel the difference. The throttle response changed immediately after I fitted mine.
-
nice, pix when done :D
RR bit far for me... duno what happened about the freebe one in essex posted awhile back.. im sure someone was looking into it.
-
You will notice a big difference with the Milltek if you do the TBE, it made a massive difference on my last Gti. Think I'll have to get 1 for the ED30, to go with the remap and carbonio, think I'll let Hurdy be the guinea pig
-
Still awaiting a reply from Sarah at Awesome for the Milltek. I reckon I ought to run a sweepstake on how many bhp the Milltek gives up on the RR. What do you reckon?
-
When I got the TBE for the regular Gti with stage 2 APR it made 22hp more and revved much more freely, I reckon the exhaust and cat made as much difference as the map so I'm guessing 10-12bhp for the Milltek

update:
fitted the carbonio on saturday. ive fitted a fair few induction kits before but this one took the p!ss, i dunno if anybody else had this problem but the front of the carbonio box would not fit in where the standard box front intake went. i tried for about an hour but would not go in without damaging it!! i ended up putting longer screws in and it worked OK. the rest of it was relativly easy except the golf that they used on the instruction's was a bit different (probably newer or ed30) and some clips and screws were different.
anways my opinion on this intake is good. it does not make much different noise than the standard box (no induction sucking noise) but throttle respose has drastically improved and feels like it pulls harder from lower revs!! i rekonend this to anyone and next day delivery with awesome was A+++. if anybody wants pictures ill post some.
-
I had the same problem with mine mounting on the slam panel. In the end I mounted it on rubber bushes so it could move with the engine and not rattle.
do a couple of miles with the window down, you'll hear the induction noise then

11bhp on a standard car

11bhp on a standard car
hows that? i thought the most would be 3-5bhp on remapped cars? have you got one and had it tested? also is this on ed30 standard or gti standard? just wondering as i didnt thik the bhp would be so high!
-
Lol. The TBE and Carbonio give 11bhp on a standard car
-
well if this is true then my car should be giving out around 270bhp!!  i cant see it being that high though, ah well guess ill find out on the forum RR day!!
-
doesnt sound like it fits too well :s
-
I had the same problem, so I made the mounting holes in the intake slightly bigger and this sorted it.
-
any one done a guide yet :p
-
Had the same problem on mine too. The snorkel of the Carbonio is a tad bigger than the the gap on the car. At the end, i managed to forcefully slide the snorkel into the gap. No probs at all. Maybe selling it tho and get a Dbilas intake from Regal. They just launched a new one to fit the ed30, which needs some re-circ pipe after the maf sensor or something. Cost £325 tho!! But gains are meant to be good, they recommended that over an intercooler and they run it on their race car. So should be a good intake i think.
-
this is whats putting me of the carbonio, good money for something that doesn't fit properly, the mk2 cupra has the same prob with it too.
i had been searching for the dbilas kit, off to the regal site.

I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow when I do my wheels and put your mind at rest. You just need longer bolts, I put mine on rubber bushes but then I have crazy OCD and didn't want it to rattle. You'll see the fit and finish are spot on.
-
cheers, apprec that
-
Its hard to explain, but I'll give it a go. As well as opening the mounting holes up slightly I found that if you engaged the corner of the new intake into the center of the opening it fits in then slide it along to its correct position it will fit no problem. I hope this makes sense if not sorry for confusing anybody

yea this is how I got it to slide in, then just put longer screws in and its sorted, not much movment at all. also it feels like its putting even more power down now than it did when i first installed it, also the psssshhhhht boost noise has become even louder now
-
u feckers keep tempting me then telling me it doesnt fit proper. lmao

It looks far better then the OEM intake, so you reckon longer bolts then, what size we talking.
thanks for taking the time to take the pics.
-
Think I used 40 or 50mm
-
yea thats exactly what i did but i used screws not bolts.
