Hi people,
I have a problem with my mk4 GTI 1.8Turbo and wondered if any one had any idea's, when I accelerate in any gear as soon as it reaches 30,000 rev mark it seems to lose rev's and acceleration and then all of a sudden kick back in and pulls away? I have had a couple of garages look but they haven't been able to diagnose it can any one help?

Hi people,
30,000 rev

   what engine are you running in that lol
sounds like it could be your MAF; about £70 on exchange from VW dealer - only go for genuine stuff; don't try an ebay special!!
also check for cracks and splits in all the pipework
-
Thanks mate sounds like a plan i read some where else it could be MAF or hose, do these get picked up by fault code readers. I would go VW dealer but the one in my area are rip off merchants!
-
MAF's don't usually throw up fault codes unfortunately hence why they are a pain in the rear to diagnose; you can try to unplug it and see it if runs any better; it it does its normally a sign the MAF is knackered
-
Might also been the infamous coil packs. If you have had to run threw VAGCOM then that will pick it / them up as being faulty.
-
it might be qucker to list things it WON'T be
-
Great
what would you guy's recomend? try disconnecting the MAF then if no better get a fault code reader on it?
Cheers for your help to guys.

Thats what I'd do. Dont bother going to VW, just phone up your local garage and ask if they have the diagnostics software for fault code reading for VW's. Most of them have it and it shouldn't be to expensive just to have a fault code readout. Some places might even do the reading for free if you give them the work to fix what ever is wrong.

well guys good news just disconnected the MAF air flow censor and although i felt performance loss the problems i had been having had gone, sooo......... does anybody know any good parts dealers that are near portsmouth? and thanks again guys for your help been awsome!!!
-
get one from your closest VW dealer mate; not the cheapest but its been proven in the past that only genuine MAF's work; a few people have used GSF MAF's but they don't last
-
Buy cheap, buy twice............
