Title: Mk2 Golf Gti 8v 1600?????

Hi all!

Can someone try and clear this up for me!?

I was getting a few quotes online for my '84 Mk2 Golf Gti 8v and I just entered in the Reg. number. However whenever it came to the quote the car details said Mk2 Golf Gti ok but said engine size was 1588cc!?

Did they ever make a Mk2 Gti with the 1600 engine from the Mk1?

Really confused me this as my log book says 1788 i think and I always thought it was a 1.8! ???

all mk2 gti are 1.8

they did 1.3 and 1.6 in the normal models

they probably got it confused witha driver or a ryder or cl these all had 1.6 i think.

nah, only the early mk1's came with 1600, then they changed to 1800 in 1982

mk2 8v's are all 1800 (well 1789cc)

insurance companies dont always have the correct data on makes & models of cars

do a quote, but do it for a reg that it wont recognise, then enter the details yourself.

once you get a good quote, then change the reg number to yours

Thats what I thought, didn't think they ever did a 1600 in a Mk2!

I'll just enter the car details in future!
