I'm told 1.6 and 1.8 motors are non-interferance, so it should be just fine - time it up and bang another belt on - what's the worst that can happen?

Any way of telling when a cambelt is on it's way out? No idea if/when the previous owner changed mine, and I've done a good 15-20k on it :/

Take off the cover and inspect it all the way around.  There shouldn't be any cracks, or frays on it.  Anything like that - change it.
