Title: VIN Numbers
Post by: ILoveTuna on 01 January 2008, 21:25
Hi,

I am going to look over a Mark V GTI tomorrow. Can anyone give me some pointers on what I should be checking for?

I will be checking that the VIN numbers match on the car match the documentation. Where are the chassis numbers? just under the bonnet?

Sorry for asking dumbass questions...

I'd also ask to check the log book to see if the VIN numbers match. I'd also ring the DVLA to get extra information on it. They have a department which deals with quieries from people buying 2nd hand cars. They will tell you who its registered to, the address etc. Thats what i did when i bought my car privetly and they were very helpful.

You will find the number on the front windscreen, just under the passenger side windscreen wiper. It is white lettering on a black background.
