Title: MK2 16V Exhaust... can anyone help?
Post by: wopdat on 01 January 2008, 18:03
Please help...

I have recently purchased an Milltek 4-1 manifold for my Mk2 16V and am wondering what system to use.

I am currently running a standard (1 box) manifold with a scorpion system which consists of a front, centre and rear box. Last year i changed the DTM back box for a powerflow twin which sounds great and improved acceleration.

I was thinking of fitting a straight through pipe with a sebring back box however i am concerned about the noise and if i will have back pressure problems.

I want a system which is not too loud but would like it to pop on the overun i.e. downshift.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What would you recommend with the milltek manifold?

Was the car designed to run like that? I don't think so, even the rally cars back in the hayday didn't do that every dropdown, and they had a full head rebuild between races, you will burn your exhaust valves and head away with a system like that, but it is your choice

Any suggestions?

yeah, go and buy a couple of cars, if you want the pop on over-run then be prepared to keep rebuilding it as said. Whack the fueling right up, and be ready for it not to start on cold mornings.

2 - 2.5inch stainless, either powerflow, longlife, or mate an already manufactured milltek up with it. 2 boxes min.
