hiya, what are you getting mpg wise in your 1.8 turbos please?
i was after a diesel for the economy, but i was wondering what the difference would be in fuel costs to me each week.
i do around 200 mile per week, and in a diesel i reckon it would cost me £20 ish? per week?
so roughly what does it cost in a 1.8t for 200 mile.
any info is appreciated, happy new year !!!!!!!!

I had one of these engines, although it was in an Alhambra  with a tiptronic  and driving like miss daisy(60mph) was lucky to get 30mpg, around town got about 22.5 mpg, 20quid of petrol gave me about 135 miles, but they were fun miles!!!! What a great engine! Couldn't believe it when got up one morning and it was gone, police never found it, bet the engine sits nicely in whatever it was took for!!! B'ards beat me to it, always thought about rolling it and buying back off insurance to shove in my FAB!
:nerd: Get a Deisel!!!! If you want economy, get a 1.8T if you want fun

When I fitted my induction kit, I got 16mpg and used half a tank of petrol to do about 100 miles if that!
-
Before i got my car i didnt car about what engine i had as long as it was better than my mates but now i have to fill up twice as much im really pissed off and its not even a big engine!
Id go with diesel mate!
-
On mine I used to get 36mpg as the long term average and over 42mpg on motorways.
-
my 1.8t does about 25-27 ariound town ,open road anything up 2 40mpg , your own preference mate , will say i always drive with a big smile on my face
-
I put 50 litres in mine twice a week, and do near as damn it 300 miles exactly between petrol stops which averages out to 27mpg. Mostly B roads with the odd bit of dual carriageway.

Thats better than my crappy 1.6 mk2 works out
Suppose it shows how much more efficient new engines are :undecided:
-
mine does bout 22MPG when i boot it round town! it aint good, but if im a sensible motorway driver, then ill do 36MPG just cruising at 70!
-
Ours averages 32-34, only dips to anything lower if we are ragging it. Has been up to 37-38 on a run.
-
Ive a Revo'd 1.8t, if i put 20 quid in im lucky to see 120 miles mate, but as mentioned everyone of them im smiling......

Why? The consensus is that unless your nailing it you'll easily get well over 30 mpg (over 40mpg on long runs), and I think thats not much less than most petrol cars of a reasonable size, and you've got a hot hatch!!
-
Im only kidding I knew about the fuel consumption before I did it!
-
I've just got a GTI TURBO and did a 60 mile trip (A road and about 17 miles of Motorway). Was a boring drive as i was trying to see how high i could get the MPG. I managed 40.1 which im well chuffed with!!
Most of the time im around 35-37 though.
Get the GT TDI if you want performance and Economy, but expect to pay more for it!
-
i do a mixture of motorway and round town and am averaging abot 31mph combind, but thats with some 'spireted' driving in there sometimes.
when i visited my mum in glasgow though i got over 42mph oin the mway averaging 70-80mph
not bad considering!
-
Im town driving every day in the worst stop start rush hour traffic possible and am lucky to get over 26mpg, thats with a carbon intake though, dunno if that makes a difference? :undecided: They are fun miles though! And every one of them sounds awesome!
-
i went out for a drive the other day wid a few mates i covered 32 miles and got an average of 11mpg but i did bet em all including a toyota mr2 turbo
-
