Title: Golf Cl problems intermittent problem with idle revs
Post by: golf_18 on 29 December 2007, 19:27
Hey everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I'd really appreciate some help!

I've been driving my first golf, an M reg golf 1.8 Cl for just over 2 months now and i've had intermittent problems with the idle revs. 80% of the time it's happy staying at 900 rpm, but every now and then it will rise up to as high as 3000 rpm on its own.

The times that it has stayed at these high revolutions i've been able to adjust the pin on the throttle linkage to compensate for the increase and this brings it down to 900 revs in neutral and in gear.

Is it possible that the choke needs a clean/lubrication/replacing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

a friend had a similar prob (that he solved, eventually) - I'll see if I can pick his brains on the subject if you're still having problems.
