Title: Flying Saucer
Post by: e11ie on 28 December 2007, 14:55
Hey, I've been having the usual idle problems so I've cleaned the isv and throttle body and have brought a new bung for under the flying saucer but I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the pipe is that goes from the throttle body to the flying saucer because that is shot too! Also where to get one or at least the size and thickness etc if plain tubing will do.

Cheers, Ellie

plain tubing will do but make sure its the right length as you don't want it to 'pinch' when it bends. the flying saucer is called a crankcase breather so gsf or VW main dealer should be bale to supply the correct hose.

So is this samco tubing the right stuff or do I need vacum hoses?

The pipe allows the burnt oil/fuel, that pass the rings, to pass through the system. If you get it wrong or leaks it will run badly or not at all!

anything will do really, as long as its a tight seal. but i'd go for a genuine hose. probably cheaper than that samco stuff too. and also i seem to think its fatter one end than the other.
