Title: Digifant Chips on eBay for ?50
Post by: davidhawkins_78 on 22 March 2004, 10:18
Just ordered one myself ... the auctioneer seems a nice genuine guy and will answer any of your questions.

For ?50 i'd say they're a steal - comparitive to Superchips etc but your not paying ?250 for the name !!!

Snap 'em up and enjoy no "digi - lag" ever again !!!

I thought the same - it appears he got talking to a tuner who has the binary code for a bespoke chip ... not hard to program a chip really once you have the code .... especially if you work in IT.

He's had a few made up - got 2 in his Golf's and floggin the others to make a few quid. He's from an Engineering background the same as me and knew what he was talking about.

Drop him a mail if you're unsure ... and the chip only changes fuel and timing maps so can't do any damage.

would that mean my digifant will drink more petrol if i used this chip?

Let me know how it performs when you get one ;)

In principle 'Yes' - although the guy has said he's not seen any dramatic increase in fuel comsuption in his own cars. Both are PB engines.

Also, alot depends on how you drive as the modifications only really effect full or '3/4' throttle action - in which case you'll be using loasda fuel anyway !!

I'll keep you posted ....

it says fuel maps have been altered to stop lean running found on digi's

i dont think mine suffers that it gets flames out the exhaust....... ;D

no flamer kit required on my golf ;D every nova boys dream big flames out of exhaust  without use of flamer kit.........

all in all sound good......

Hello peps,

Chip turned up in the post today - installed it as soon as I got to work !!! Working in IT got all the chip pulling tools etc and 'disater recovery' tools for when you slip with that screw driver !!!!  ;D

Nice eays job - all put back, ECU cleared, started no troubles and as usual purrs like a kitten ... all that remains is the test drive to see the difference!

I'll take her for a spin @ lunch, so I'll let you boys know how it goes ... There's still 2 chips going on the auction so if you fancy one be quick !!!!

Blue - the MPG is the only thing that doesn't work on my MFA - vacuum pipe seems fine and when you use the hidden menu's you can see some reading. Just guessing the sensor is goosed !!

It'll have to be lunch as I've got 3 other cars behind me and they get the right hump if they're asked to move during the day !

I'll keep you posted ....

Just had the test drive and all good !!!

I think to start with I was expecting more - but better throttle responce and 6 - 10 bhp isn't gonna turn it in to a fire throwing monster!

The most noticable difference is the instant responce from the engine. Mine always performed well as she's in tip top condition and low mileage, but from low down in 2nd or 3rd it was quite easy to see the change.

Well worth ?50 if your planning more mods as the fueling will be better suited for high lift cams ect ... i'm pleased  ;D
