Title: MK3 TWEETER INSTALL
Post by: gribsymk3 on 27 December 2007, 02:19
Ive just got a set of comps for my mk3, I want to mount the tweeters in the original position under the grills on the dash, however when i removed the originals i realised they are alot bigger therefore the holes are bigger than the new small tweeters, has anyone had this? i was thinking of maybe making up an adaptor or something? has anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

think you kind of answered your own question - fit them in under the existing grilles with mdf/filler/blutac/jam etc

or, maybe if they are very subtle looking put them on the a pillar?

if your new tweeters come with there own housing or front surrounding frame, u cud jus have them on display...doing a bit more of a custom job....cutting away at the metal mesh in front of the original one and wedging it in from the outside-in and bond the inner part of the tweeter surround to the door or housing for the tweeter section on the door! (if that makes any sense to you??)

I had a fantastic sound when my Focal Comp tweeters where at the top of my A pillars, easy to install!
