*Where's my debit card*
I feel another expensive visit to Awesome early next year coming on
I think djhorace may already have this fitted?!? :undecided:
-
And djhorace owns a Leon Cupra

Stupid question but what added benefit does this "Milltek" have over the standard exhaust system?
Does it increase the noise and make it sound like a 1.2litre vauxhall corsa modded by a spotty teenager?
-
nice!
Would be wonderful if they put 90+mm diameter endpipes. Kind-of not-in-your-face-Q-car look, but when you look closer it is so-in-your-face.

Tailpipes are twin 80mm

Milltek (full system) gives the exhaust gases a less restrictive exit to the end of the exhaust. The bit that really matters is the downpipe and high flow cat and when used in conjunction with a remap gives out extra bhp. I'll let you know once I have it fitted exactly how much bhp it will free up as I will once again have a before and after Rolling road done at Awesome GTI.
Regarding the sound that the exhaust will make - if you have the resonated exhaust then it is only slightly more fruity than standard. Have the non-resonated exhaust and you will have a bit more noise from the rear, but still not as bad as the MAXPOWER cars.
Also the system is a full stainless steel system and guaranteed for life, so if you are planning to keep your car till it falls to bits - one of the bits left will be the Milltek exhaust

Here's a pic of the exhaust tips "exclusive" 80mm

superb , I want
how much?
pipes perfect , big enough to be different without looking boy racer ish
wonder what the plot looks like
-
I wonder what the exclusive total cost of getting one of these + fitting will cost.........
-
Cost fitted will be circa £1,200
Enough to make it "exclusive", but IMO worth every penny.

Will the down pipe and cat bolt onto an existing non-resonated cat back? Any idea how much for just the downpipe and CAT Hurdy?
Kev

I got this from Milltek the other day.note the engraved trim?
We have recently developed a system for the edition 30, which utilizes a 3 inch sports cat downpipe and 2.75 inch system with a unique engraved tail trim. Orders for this system will be taken from the 2nd of January and a prototype will be on our stand at the Auto Sport show.
-
Yeah, I have the Milltek 3" downpipe and full cat back system on my car. Only difference with my car and the Golf is the length of pipe at the back of the car and tail piece trim.
Here is what it sounds like

I haven't seen a full price yet for the system, but I reckon that the downpipe and sports cat would come in at somewhere between £700-£750.
I don't know if the Milltek would fit an existing cat-back exhaust if it is already an ED30 one. If it is a standard GTI cat-back then the mount may be slightly different.

I think it is going to cost approx £700 mate. It is the S3 downpipe slightly modified. The cat back will be exactly as per the cat back on the standard MK5 GTi.
For what its worth it sounds like an Evo on the road with the non resonated centre section and 3" downpipe combined. Power goes up 11bhp and torque stays the same with the full system.

Just measured the standard exits to the standard exhaust (sad I know :embarassed:)and it is 70mm. 80mm twin exits look like a more filling experience for the rear valance
-
sad but essential info  nice one
-
I have heard the full system for the MK2 Leon Cupra including 3" downpipe will be aound £900. I would be surprised if the Golf system cost more.
-
This is what I received from Awesome.
"Hi
this is so hot off the press Milltek are working on the prices now , but not been released yet , so you are the first to know so keep it secret
The downpipe is £564.50 retail , our price is £508.05 + VAT
The cat back is retail £384.50 + VAT for the non resonated our price would be £364.05 + VAT
Cat back on the resonated would be retail £450.65 + VAT and our price will be £405.59 + VAT
Fitting we have never done one , but as an estimate approx £148.50 + VAT (3 hours)
Hope that helps?
Sarah"
So, it is £914 +VAT + fitting.
I doubt myself if it takes 3hrs to fit though.

They always quote that for a complete exhaust on a mk5, did for me anyway, but will only charge for the time it actually takes, which if I remember rightly was a couple of hours

Supposedly the downpipe is bit of a nightmare and is where the time goes. I reckon if you add £50-£100 for fitting, thats approx £1150 all in.
-
Think that was about what it cost when I put the Milltek Tbe on my first mk5 Gti

this modding business is bloomin dear.

and it never ends
