Title: handbrake problems

Hi ive just put disc's and pad's on the rear of my gti the foot brake is fine but when you pull the handbrake the caliper looks like its working but it's not gripping the disc can anyone help because i can only think that the calipers need replacing

you need to action the handbrake a good 50 -80 times, and the calliper will ratchet itself out.  I had the same problem with mine; the Haynes book doesn’t mention it at all.  I only found out when I quizzed my old man, he said there was a note in the box that came with his new callipers highlighting the problem.  hope it helps
