Title: diesel starter motor

hi all having screwed up my 2l conversion and taking it to a garage, they have said i could use a diesel starter as it will have more cranking power, is this true and if so which engine code starter do i need??/

Well...  :nerd:

These codes are all from mk3 diesels

My N/A Diesel is 1Y
My TD Diesel is AAZ

These are both the older IDI (indirect injection) engines - they have higher compression than the newer TDi engines - 22.5:1 vs 19.5:1.

The newer TDi engine codes are: 1Z, AHU, ALE, AFN, & AVG - The 1.9 N/A SDi is AEY.

ive got the 1.6 IDI Turbo diesel (mk2 GTD) and the engine codes for those are RA or SB. Cant help you with compatibility though mate.

wont you need a deisel battery as well because the starter takes more juice? also putting a deisel battery on your standard battery will give it more torque.
