HI all how much do you guys reckon this 16v mk2 is worth havent had a mk2 for a few years and fancy a change I have a mk3 Vr6 nice engine but car handles crap, and a Rado G60 handles like its on rails but hate the coupe style like driving on a sun lounger so I fancy this mk2 high miles but sounds like shes been looked after just wonder what yoor opinions are on price as the mk2 prices do seem to be all over the place cheers for any input..

Buy It!
Thats worth £1300 of anyones money. It's quite obviously been well looked after and not in need of much at all.
Body work sounds like an easy fix and once the wheels are refurbed that's gonna be a very tidy motor.

Thanks for that,I didnt know if the miles were a tad high for a valver, do they take the mileage as well as the 8v`s? I know the gearbox`s tend to take more abuse and my last 16v I had to take off the box for a rebuild due to the old rivets in the diff coming adrift which is a weak point and that had only done 104k .Dont think the guy will budge that much on price but trying my luck by a few quid will see what happens cheers..

If it's been looked after properly, then don't worry about the miles. Mine has 165k on it but has a folder full of receipts. The engine is a diamond and runs like new. I would definately view it if i were looking for one and see what it's like in the flesh. Good price i think, even better if you can knock it down a bit.
Oh, one thing i would be interested in finding out is what the milage was on when it last had the cam belt changed as i know they should be done every 60 - 80 thousand miles.
-
That is definately worth the money if its as good as its description. i would bite his hand off and fast!!

Thanks chaps have made him an offer and hope to go view the car as soon as ,hope all goes ok cheers OakeyDoak cambelt is about the only thing i forgot to ask..

Looks lovely, good luck mate.

Nice looking car that mate, you could certainly do a lot worse than that for your money. As said the miles although up a bit arent a issue what matters is the body, if its solid your onto a winner for that money
-
Thanks guy`s you have help me make up my mind, was dithering a bit on this one as have had a few mk2`s in the past and did like them so going to look this aft will let you know how it goes cheers

Well just bought the mk2 she`s a cracker there are only a couple of minor dings on the sides of the car, no rust anwhere apart from wiper blank usual mk2 places all spot on and no sign at all of a respray in the past, underside nice and clean no underseal been scraped off the jacking points to allow the dreaded tin worm in,alloys are sound just a few small scuffs around the edges no oxidisation at all even has the black bolt covers still in place,no squeaks from the interior at all and drives really sweet.Does sound funny though when you got to buy a "new" car that has 178k on it..Was a lot better than I imagined so thanks again chaps for your input paid £1100 for her in the end..

That's a fantastic looking car. Best of luck with it.

Nice on mate, looks like you've picked a good un there. Good luck with it

Thanks guys no doubt there will be a bit of grot hiding behind the rear arches behind the bodytrim which is to be expected for its age (there usually is) but cant feel anything really ugly, but this is an easy fix come good weather was more concerned with previous owner abuse and rust/rot in expensive to repair places, overall seems pretty good though, and pleased to have got holf of another mk2 before they start getting thin on the ground and the prices start to rise..oh anyone want to buy the G60..
-
Top Bannana! I'm totally jealous, £1100?!! Fair do's, Happy Christmas to you mate!!
-
How much for the old g60 then?
-
Haven`t given it great deal of thought just yet, but charger fully rebuilt by g-werks only 3k ago with reciepts/guarantees at same time replaced waterpump radiator cambelt/pulley new Cat 1 alarm battery uprated headlight loom and other bits and bobs a tidy car few scuffs and dings but no nasty tin worm anywhere .would hope to get 2k for her or would get near as damn it that breaking her but that would be a shame as mechanically the motor is standard and in this guise are getting very rare now,did think about putting the engine in the new mk2 but again that would ruin a 16v mk2 I suppose...
