Sounds quite expensive to me, particularly since it doesn't appear to have any spec beyond met paint & cruise.
I bought a white 5dr with monzas, leather, sunroof, xenons, 6cd in dash on a 56 plate, admittedly with 40k on the clock, 6m tax and a full tank of fuel for £15,995 from a main dealer...
-
Glass' currently has retail listed at £18,025. That price looks pretty good
-
when i bought my gti brand new with 2 miles on the clock metalic black heated leather 18" monzas highline comp arm rest it cost me £18600 from motorpoint glasgow, for the same spec from VW they quoted me £23900 and had car for a year now and its been spot on.
-
cheers all,
stevieC i have to admit we are seriously looking at motorpoint but were a bit freaked out by some of the horror stories, imports, been laying around for ages, main dealers treating you as if you have the plague etc etc.
Ummmmmmmm........
-
The car we bought is the exact same spec car that VW would have got me,its made in the same factory the only difference is you get 2 years pan european warrenty the same as you get in the UK exept your VW dealer will pay for the extra year giving you the 3 years.

I think thats quite expensive, have a look on pistonheads.com theres a few on there that are cheaper with less miles and better spec.

think we'll be popping odwn the local motorpoint, see what they got.
-

You can check when the car was built - ask when the warranty expires - you will note that they offer "the balance" of any warranty so you can tell if it's been sitting about for a while
I bought mine from Motorprovider and regsitered it with main dealer and was given excellent service - they want any warranty income and future servicing so there's no reason for any hostility.
-
Valleyboy you can order your car from these places i think my deposit was £200.The salesman then told me when the car comes in come down and check it out if your not happy pull out of the deal,my car still had the wax and plastic cover to protect it when shipping. Then you just register it with your local VW dealer and there happy to do all service and warranty work no problem. The people that buy the cars that have been sitting for ages must not be checking the cars out so its there own fault.
-
cheers fella, much appreciated.
as i said we've never had a NEW car and it would be nice for a change. It was just the warranty that freaked me out.
A friend, of a friend, of a friend suppose to work in an Audi/VW garage hopefully I might see him when he's back over Crimbo and I'll pester him for more info.
I guess your just as likely to buy a 'Friday afternoon car' from a stealer as Motorpoint etc!

i paid 15,995 with 19,000 miles, 3doors but no extras......although i do have heated mirrors!! is this an extra? I only noticed because steam was coming off them this morning because of the ice.

They usually come as part of the winter pack, so you got heated seats too??

my ed30 came with heated mirrors and I don't have the winter pack (mind you I do have heated seats..must be an ed30 thing!?)

I thought the winter pack was the heated wing mirrors, heated seats, and washer low warning. No???
-
I've got the heated wing mirrors and washer warning but no heated seats - it didn't get the winter package...i thought the heated mirrors were standard?

Hi All,
Have had an on the road quote from EuroImports for new a MK5 GTI, metallic, with phone preparation (can't afford any other extras!)
The bloke quoted me £18,250. It seems a little high to me but he kept banging on about the strong Euro.
What price should I haggle for?
Your expert help would be much appreciated...
-
That's not too bad a price
Probably slightly cheaper imports here (but some are specced higher and hence higher price) :

http://www.allbrandsnew.com/search_results.asp?manufacturer=VOLKSWAGEN&model=GOLF+HATCHBACK
I can recommend All Brands New from my recent purchase of my ED30 from them.

Cheers for that JonnyG. I'll check out the web links
