the mirror speakers????

you reffering to the tweeters??

you could ask someone in the MK 4 section of the forum. but as far as i'm aware...inside mirror covers are either clipped on completely so its just the case of pulling em off carefully....or there may be one screw holding it on..so look out for a screw cap cover that u can prize off wiv a small flat head.

as for the front door speakers, i believe they take 16.5cm / 17cm speakers.
not sure if you have rear speakers but they may be the same size too....i know they are in the MK 3 model, so whether they changed rear speaker sizes in the MK 4 am not entirely sure.

Tweeter surround is heald in by a screw and clipps, cant remember if you need to take the door card off to access the screws or not. have just done this so i should know but memory fails as usual. I replaced with a set of 17cm componenets. and yes it makes a considerable difference. If you do decide to upgrade the door speaker aswell you will need an adapter which is available here http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/volkswagen-golf-1999jan-2004-c-292_319_630.html

hope that helps.

Thanks to you both!

Will give it a go, would like to upgrade all the speakers...particulary the rear speakers, the quality is incredibly poor.

Thanks for link above, would not have initially bought an adaptor if i'd gone and bought some speakers!!!
