Just a rough clue would be awesome?
Cheers

-
I presume you mean a GTi and not a Driver? (Drivers are also 8V  )
In which case i'm clueless

Sorry if ive missed summit?......but its a driver, i cant afford a GTi

I was just pointing out that Drivers are 8V's as well as the GTi 8V's
Well, my 1.6 Driver makes it to Leicester and back (160miles round trip) on less than £40 and driving to work and back for a week (50~ miles a week), so thats well over 200 miles on less than £40.

Mother of god this question gets asked more often than "Where is the leak coming from"
MPG (Litres per Km) - who really cares? (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=66107.0)
miles to the gallon (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=64865.0)
A mild bit of MPG assistance please (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=52790.0)
What approx mpg u lot gettin on an 8v? (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=3476.0)
How many miles do you get to a tank of fuel full to red? (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=24188.0)

at a steady 70mph get 45mpg all day long above these speeds...can go as low as 30mpg...pretty good for a 8v gti....lowest ive had was 27mpg on a more sporting run shall we say
my old 16v was at 70mph about 34-36mpg and could get as low as 15mpg
-
I don't know about you lot, but my 1.3 Mk2 is THIRSTY compared to my 1.6TD Passat.

Probably as oens a petrol oens a diesel?

my mk2 is drinking it  £100 in a week... have done nearly 300 pointless town miles though :embarassed:
-
Since changeing the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm I'm getting a shade under 40 mpg from mine at the moment and on the subject of fuel, my local Sainsburys is still selling lead replacement petrol but its the same price as super unleaded so a bit pointless realy :undecided:

300 town miles in a week? Glad I live in the country and have loads of country roads to ermm... test the capabilities of my car
I like going to Newbury from Didcot, got loads of steep hills to thrash it down @ just a wee bit over the spd limit
-
My GTi says, on average, I get 35mpg from it. Thats with mixed driving and I'm pretty impressed with that
Its far better on fuel consumption than my mk4 daily. That absolutely drinks it.
You can practically watch the fuel gauge go down as you press down on the pedal

i remember when i first passed my test i was throwing fuel in my car, loved every minute of it and still do, every penny iv got at the mo goes on my car!
pleased to hear u can achieve sensible miles to the gallon, just guess ill fill it up and see how things go, off shopping tomorrow
-
When I first passed my test I used to fill my car up from bone dry and it never cost more than £15, those were the days
-
just filled mine up from empty 50quid!!!!!!!! bloody hell! used to more like 35
meh, its worth it, student overdrafts are there 2 be used lol!!!!!
-
my 16v was doing 7.2mpg when i started it up this morning dont care how bloody cold it is thats really crap!!!!. Usually does 22ish on a run. Think im going to get it lookes at
-
How do you work it out? :embarassed: crap at maths btw lol
-
fill the tank to the neck, jot down the mileage, drive it for a few hundred miles, jot down the new mileage, deduct the old from the new, then fill it to the neck, jot down the amount of litres then...
mpg = (old mileage - new mileage) / (litres / 4.54)
-
sweet cheers mate will take a look at mine later in the week  will fill up and see over the nexy couple of days
-
i can get about 300motorway miles from £50-60. or about 80miles from a tenner just normal driving although its getting worse at the min.
-
well since iv filled it up iv noted the millage and will do the math later in the week, just driving how i want to, sometimes just normally mostly giving it sum
