These arent cheep and you'll need a transformer to use it over here but they seem to be held as one of the best for your money !

Got to agree with you there, they are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Someone bought me a low rent polisher that you plug in the cig lighter and it wouldnt polish a turd  :undecided:

can you any attachments for a angle grinder looks similiar

Do not use an angle grinder.

The porter cable costs more as it has random orbit action. An angle grinder only rotates at the one point,  and so you can very quickly burn through your paint when you use one of these to polish

this is what everyone has been waiting for in the uk -  the meguiars 220v DA polisher - it arrived on the 12th Dec

ordering mine tomorrow!!!

http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=234 (http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=234)

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/ (http://www.meguiars.co.uk/)

don't waste your money on those cheap sh1t things from hafrauds.... the only have a circular action and they are very good at spreading polish about but that is about it!  also the buffer pads that you get for them will probably inflict paint swirls.

you would need to order pads and polishes too...

http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=37
 (http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=37)

the polish will depend on the quality of your existing paintwork and what you want to achieve... but something like this will help you eliminate swirl

http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=118 (http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=118)

so if you don't want to avoid costly mistakes then save up and get something that will actually work... if you are in any doubt then consult a professional!

Guy, if it arrives in time, bring your new toy and pads along on the 28th. Will be interesting to see how it compares to a Porter Cable.

it's not... the paintwork needs renovating... has a few light scratches and it is swirl city which bugs the hell out of me... i want it as near as dammit perfect

plus the previous owner had paint stick rage so every panel has some on... that needs a professional like Cornish Pixie to wet n dry or use their magic on... i'm scared of getting paint wrong  :embarassed:

haven't used it yet... it was dark when i got home and I am not going to use it till I meet up with Cornish Pixie to teach me to use it properly...

it's a pretty neat bit of kit though... sturdy and in it's own case... doesn't come with any pads though so you'll need to get them... i have those already so once i can use it with confidence i'll be flyin!

I'm sure you will be amazed at the difference this will make to the way your car looks. While you are over at mine you can have a play with some Menzerna polishes (my preferred brand for corection work) and some Poorboys World compounds.

In terms of finishing the paintwork off, I have quite a large  stock of Swissvax here or a couple of different brands of sealant, either way you can have a play with wax and sealant to see which you prefer.

Nope, welcome to the world of the pro detailer, its not like having a real job.

It will be interesting to see which compounds you prefer using. The Sonus range are also very good with a PC (I think I have got enough left for you to try)

No, I'm sure there is enough here to be going on with and if we are really lucky there could be a sample of a new "wonder sealant" here by the 28th.

Rockhopper: don't know where you are? it's up to Guy but if it's ok with him feel free to come over on the 28th?
