Is it possible to retrofit heated wing mirrors? My old 2004 2.0 GT TDI had them as standard and I didn't realise that the GTI didn't have them as standard :(
It was a pain going to work this morning. I had to scrape the mirrors, and then they started to freeze on the journey at various points, when I hit some cold pockets. It got down to -3.5C in some areas.
Cheers

I thought they did. Check the spec.

Don't know the location of the heated wing mirror button on your GT TDI, but the GTi has it on the same knob as the wing mirror adjustment on the door. Just rotate it around 180 degrees. If that doesn't work, firstly check the fuse. Other than that, looks like a trip to the stealer to get fixed.

My GTI is an import from Holland. Could be that the option is not standard there ? I've got the low washer fluid warning though (not got the winter pack option). Can't be too difficult to get heated mirrors fitted can it?

all depends on how difficult the wiring is; you'd need to run a loom to each mirror and also to the switch; not sure if it needs to go through the CCM though. Parts wise it could be a bit pricey; best bet is to rob bits off a crashed Golf with them

Well "all gu't t't fut't of arr sters" 180 degrees on the switch = ??? degrees on the wing mirrors. You learn somthing new every day!
P.S. The wife and a few close friends think I am a Golf Gti Geek spending so much time on this site!

Hey Pintman, thanks for the tip. Sorted now! I was a complete muppet. I'll blame VW anyway for changing the design, although it is a better design.
The wing mirror control knob on the GT TDI had 3 positions - L-Heater-R. The GTI has 4 positions - L-Off-R and Heater at 180 degrees. I couldn't see the heater position from my driving position so assumed that it only had L-Off-R.
Cheers.
