Title: Cold blast of air?
Post by: paulm007 on 12 December 2007, 17:20
Does anyone else get this, its more noticeable with the cold weather I think.

If i have the heaters on and the car is nice and toasty, when I am going slow to go around corners or r/bouts I sometimes get a blast of cold air (like a draught!) coming from around the gear knob area, well thats where i feel it??

Any clues??

I've noticed a draft too at times, esp cold weather.

Usually helped when heating directed to footwell.

Are there any holes from engine bay to interior behind all of the dash???

I get this too on corners - must be a draft from somewhere.

I felt this too today in my mk3. I think its just a car thing to do with if you have it on.

WINDSCREEEN and OUTSIDE AIR, and not recon, that outside air can get into the footwell vents without being heated. mayube....

Generally speaking when you take corners at low speed cold air creeps in around the side of the engine bay around the wheel arches and the inducts accept this cold air momentarily. It happens with most cars and is more apparent in cold weather. :nerd:

I thought it wasa something to to wih the chiller thingy in the Glovebox?

It always seems to come from that side, but only when cornering.

Maybe it is a safety feature so that when you start to nod off cos you set the air con too high and you start to swerve off the road the cold blast of air wakens you up
