Title: Golf 1.8T cambelt change WARNING LIGHT
Post by: 20Benson on 20 March 2004, 12:12
I recently bought a Golf Mark 4 1.8T after my highly modded 306 was destroyed graphically by a Granny!! The golf had 56K on the clock and hadn't had the cambelt changed. So after I knocked down the price and bought it I immediately had the cambelt changed but not at a VW dealer.

Now sometimes in the morning when cold, the coolant warning comes on saying check coolant level.  :'(
I have many times and it is fine!!!

HAs anyone had this prob?? Do you have any ideas??

I didn't have the tensioners done tho!!

some times the float/sender in the top up/expansion tank sticks which will give you a false reading hence the alarm, not too sure about the cambelts sensor?? wether it works on a mileage timer device or what?? ill have a scan and see what i can find out for you...
