What do people think about putting an R32 rear valance on an ed30 ?? I just cant get it off my mind?? My ed30's on the way and I wanna get the milltek system on it when its finally on sale!!!!, but coupling it in with an R32 backbox. The car's white so I think the contrast of the black plastic at the bottom of the R32 bumper would make it look awesome. I know the heritage of the ed30 means a lot and I promised myself I would not fiddle with the exterior apart from wheels but after looking at TampaVW's GTI who's done it to his I cant stop thinking how good it would look, HELP! :undecided:

Small Pic but this will give you an idea:

One of the features I love about the R32. Looks awesome IMO

Where's that picture from?? that valance is awesome it looks like it's different from the oem one, it has some sort of diffuser on it, different from the plain black plastic of the original VW part.

Is this is the one you are looking for
IMO it looks better than the R32 rear. The R32 rear exhausts look like they are squashed too close together and this one looks more balanced.

Personally, I think putting R32 valance on GTI is blasphemy both towards GTI and towards R32. Towards GTI because it makes it look like R32, towards R32 because GTI can never imitate THAT sound, and I associate twin pipes with R32 sound.
Moreover, I am an adherent of Q-carness minimalism, in the sense that if I were to tune my GTI, I'd leave it looking stock (except for slightly lower suspension). I'd never put 4-pipe on the back, or do R32 thing. I'd leave my asymmetric two-pipe on a standard valance.

I can agree with you in a way, but the exterior look is just as important as the engine department for me personally. With my cars I like to add my own personal touch leaving people quandering in their mind as to what variation of a certain model the car is. Dont get me wrong I am not a bad boy racer from max power with wide arch bodykits and jap exhausts etc. no offense, but I dont want my ed30 looking bog standard, I like to add subtle modifications that stand out. Im complicated but im sure someone understands :undecided:

I think the R32 rear end looks fantastic - I wouldn't personally put it on my Ed30 because I have a neurosis for standard looks - with the exception of a set of gorgeous BBS rims. If I were you, I'd would go ahead with the mod, but keep the original rear valence to put it back to standard if you ever sold the car or got tired of the R32 look.

I thought about making half of the rear valance black, like on Rob's car, but then I saw that it is like that on a white Seat Cupra, and that decided things in a second - all-white valance for me.

Nice wheels Rob! "Black and white dancing together, side by side we'll make things better"
I like these wheels even more:

BTW, this car has turboback Milltek, and I thought turboback was forbidden in Switzerland.... :undecided:

Me and you must have very similar tastes Rob because if im correct your last car was a caractere converted GT TDI? as was mine, almost identical to yours apart from mine was black, I think I saw it on some VW beetle forum for some reason. Now you have got the exact same GTI as Im waiting for and you have done the mod that I cant stop thinking about, R32 rear valance, Weird.

Sorry boys, the twin exhaust thing on a GTI is far too MaxPower. Love the 19" CHs though Rob. Each to their own I guess though.

How much did the full R32 rear look cost (parts, labour, exhaust etc)?
