Title: Getting chipped - what else is required? AMD or Bluefin?
Post by: dubaiphil on 10 December 2007, 07:41
Hi All

After my GTi has got a few Km on the clock, I will be looking at getting the car chipped.  In Dubai I seem to be limited to two options - Bluefin and AMD Sportline.

Bluefin is the same price as the UK, and AMD offer upto 240BHP with just a remap or 270BHP with an AMD Turbo.

A few questions you might be able to help me with as I'm new to this...

What else needs to be upgraded to cope with the power increase?
I've heard a few horror stories about the Bluefin warranty or lack of it - anyone had trouble?
Anyone gone for the AMD options above - any comments on the performance and service?

I had bluefin fitted to mine with no further upgrades, no problems to report so far.  I imagine with the heat in Dubai the car might benefit from a bigger intercooler, obviously not such a worry in the UK!
I can recommend the Bluefin for ease of install, very quick and easy for someone with no experience of these things (like me!).
Check this link where it was discussed in detail!
