Title: crap heater.....still

any ideas anyone?

my heater basically doesnt work. changed my matrix today....the old one wasnt completely blocked but very restricted when i ran the tap through it compared to the new one.

i dont have a bypass valve just 2 hoses going in and out of the heater matrix.

the outflow hose (drivers side) only gets lukewarm so my guess theres an airlock? how can i get rid of it? ive used Rubjonnys guide for bleeding the system 3 times today and still no joy!

also my thermostat seems to be working as normal because the lower rad hose stays cold until the engine is warmed up.

any help would be awsome

Just a couple of simple ideas...

1) You could do a full coolant flush and blast a hosepipe down each coolant hose - Might be a block?
2) Knackered thermostat not opening fully?
3) Or a long shot... Could it be a fault with the heater control flaps? E.g. the cold air flap isn't fully closing?

im pretty sure its none of the above

1) i did a full flush before changing my heater matrix. water was running freely
2) thermostat seems to work fine. as the lower rad pipe warms when the coolant is fully warmed as it should. i dont think this would affect the heating anyway even if it was knackered?
3) it all seemed to work fine when i had the heater box out of the car. everydoor closed up nice and all the foam was surprisingly alright.


my matrix was definatly hammered though... i forgot to mention there was loads of coolant in the bottom of its housing. thankfully this hadnt yet made its way into my footwell.

when i changed mine i had to unbolt the header tank hold it high and fill while massaging the pipes then i got hot air

after raising my expansion tank and bleeding as normal i got lots of hot air!

Glad you have nice heat now. i found this out after doing mine!!! mine is like mexican heat wave..lol :grin:

yes the part in my faq that says 'squeeze all the hoses you can lay your hands on' includes the 2 hoses to the matrix ;)
