apologies if this is in the wrong forum. Wasn't sure where it was best suited. Put it here as out of my question, i prefer the MK4 to the MK3
Please don't answer this as a 'what car is better' thread - because all 3 of them beat the other in some department to be better suited to my wants & needs. It's not that sort of thread...
I'd set on getting the Astra ages ago, but being laid off work for 22 week out of 12 month hits the bank hard ... and so does rising fuel prices, so long story short, i've a question i've not been able to find out elsewhere....
I'm looking to compare these motors acceleration-wise. On normal roads (none of this, if you constantly drive round a roundabout for 100% of the time, then x-car is better coz it's quicker on bends lol).
I could go off parkers, but i'm hoping someone on here has driven at least 2 of the 3 mentioned & can give me a good answer.
Let's say for example .... 0-30 and say 30-60.
Obviously not wanting specific times, but what's the difference? Is there a lot, or a little? Is it fractional, or by a long shot? Is there really bugger all in it at all?
Also, please do not say "you should really go for the GT TDI 150" as my budget will not stretch!!
Looking about 3.3k very tops for the Astra. About 1.2k tops for the MK3 and about 2-3k for the MK4 Golf.
As said, i've looked into which is better to do this, that and the other & all suit me in different ways. This is pretty much all that's left for me to find out.
Much thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
EDIT: Asked this on a couple other forums as i feel it may not be something that gets many replies, which is also why i'm asking in good advance....
.... had a guy on another forum pretty much slate the Golf MK4 TDI on an 'anything up to 51 plate' - related to my budget. Says any MK4 on that money WONT be a decent car & will have wads of miles on it.
So why do plenty of damn near 10yr old MK4 TDIs drive about alright enough then?! I don't get it.
