Title: Stage 3 GTI
Post by: Hurdy on 05 December 2007, 22:30
On my visit to Awesome I briefly spoke to Dean and the GTI that narrowly beat me at Inters this year on the 1/4 mile looks like it will be a little harder to catch next year. He said that it will be at stage 3 next year. Which will mean that it will be pushing out..........

Wait for it........

400bhp!!!

It will be interesting to see how the DSG which is fitted to it will cope :undecided:

Anyone fancy 400bhp through the front wheels?

gawd whats stage 3 consist of?

It's all APR gear including a new exhaust manifold, garrett turbo, APR fueling components, cast intake, exhaust plumbing, silicon hoses, 3inch exhaust system and uprated intercooler, which equals. LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY!

Mine is more than enough power through the front wheels. I can't begin to imagine what another 100+bhp would be like!

i doubt the 400bhp will be transfered to the road.

                                     (Wheel Spin + Wheel Hopping)
Front Wheel Drive =  -----------------------------
                                              (Y + Torque Steer)

Y = 400BHP

Therefore :

                                     (Wheel Spin + Wheel Hopping)
Front Wheel Drive =  ----------------------------- = X
                                         (400BHP + Torque Steer)

X = Bad Idea to the n'th power

400Bhp through the front wheels!!! thats just crazy talk dude!!

why bother?? Why not just do it to a car which is going to be able to handle the power? If you really want a car that just travels in straight line go buy a VXR...

Some people are just plain stoopid.. but i guess if thats what floats your boat, then fair enough. Just a very expensive was of floating it.. considering you can now just fly with easyjet for peanuts  (not to mention the resale value )

meaningless, totally bonkers. 400hp in FWD, you will never get to use them. And engine lifespan will definitely not benefit....

Astra OPC has torque steer. But it handles fine. And it is fast. And they put it in racing this year.
You are so cathegorical, I noticed, it's all black and white for you. I was like that, too, when I was a teenager....  :lipsrsealed:

I just looked, and you are 27?!  :lipsrsealed:

There's already a 400bhp APR Golf and from all the reviews I've read it is a very capable car

Im not saying there is anything wrong with it.. i just dont see the point in having 400BHP in a fwd car. They may have made a few mods.. but that article which is only about that car is not going to say, its not that great. No matter what mods you make, the bottom line is that 400 thru those two front wheels does not work! And if you think it does... then thats cool. But if it really did.. and was that fun.. the BMW, MB, Porsche, and Ferraris would make a model that sarisfied that market. Thankfully they dont, because they know that it just not viable even though it would be rediculously cheap to do in comparison to developing the cars they currently do. Probably to do with the fact that not many people would buy them... but look on the bright side... you would be at the top of the waiting list :lipsrsealed:

I'd never buy 400hp FWD car, it's useless and dangerous, not to mention costly.

Well.. :lipsrsealed: Its fine as long as you feel your not just fighting your car whenever you decide to put the pedal to the metal. 300 i think would be pretty much the limit for a Fwd.. but even that is pushing it  imo

With 400 hp you would need your own tyre fitter in the garage!!!!!

I've been out in Deans 340hp mk4 and it was perfectly driveable, the posh diff helps things along, if you look at the american 400+hp mk5's they also have posh diffs.

This GTI sounds incredible. But I must say. (This sounds immature)

One GranTurismo 4 I have a GTI pushing 380HP and it cant grip to save its life. Full mods. LSD the works and I cant get it to grip. Try take that thing around Nuremburg Ring and what a joke. So I would like to see this GTI work.

Crazy and evedently wealthy nutter of a owner
