I could operate the remote locking from at least 50 metres away on my previous mk4 golf. On my new mk5 the remote locking only operates from a distance of 1 metre. I have exchanged the battery in the key but no improvement. Is this normal or do I have a fault?

1meter? lol. thats a fault!! quite useless infact.. lol

Might as well open with the key then.. HAH.
?problem with the receiver on dashboard, have it checked.

I did mine from across the carpark at Waitrose the other day. My other half was stood impatiently by the car so I blipped it as a joke not expecting it to work.
Silly bint didn't notice anyway and it locked again before I got there.
Must have been 75 to 100 Meters.

If you put the key hard against your jawbone, you should find it works over a much greatrer range. Something to do with frequency of resonation amplifying the signal

Definitely a fault. Mine operates up to around 50 metres too.
