Title: 8v and 16v springs
Post by: Philpy on 03 December 2007, 14:58
Ive noticed after market springs are always listed differently for the 2 different engines..... Ive just bought some 8v Eibachs, Any problem fitting them to my 16v?
Whats the difference?

16v springs are 10mm lower then 8v springs which are 10mm lower than standard springs!

Well i had 16v eibachs (didn't realise at first) on my 8v and the front didn't drop as much as i expected tbh. I imagine yours will drop a little more than normal at the front, nothing drastic though!

He's going the other way though bud so he's going increase his front ride height by 10mm.

I was thinking more in terms of weight, as i thought that an 8v and a 16v lowered on respective Eibach springs end up sitting at the same height. I may well be wrong though!

I dunno about that I thought the engines weighed about the same? What do I know though I've only ever had 8v's!

Deffo different springs as they have different part numbers, and if the 8v lower by 30mm and the valver springs lower by 20mm after the 10mm drop on the 8v, then they would sit at the same height. Or am i working that out wrong!?

They will still fit your shocks perfectly fine and you won't have any problems fitting them, not too sure the springs will handle in the way they are meant to though?  :undecided:
