the vr6 has for a fair few weeks started to make weird noise from behind the dash when the ignition is on and also when the engine is running.........
what is this.....?
i understand that there is this type of noise when the igntion is on coming from near the coil plack.......
i dont know if thats related to this.....
but that has always made that noise.........
it sounds like some worn out buzzer or some type of pump..........
anyone know......
-
There is a small electric coolant pump on the n/s of the engine, check that.
-
ah cheers..... i was going to say if there was a pump as there as always been a noise from there but now its louder and can be heard inside the car as i had alook at it when i checked the oil i left the ignition on and it was whineing away i thought it was that and now i know i grabbed one of the pipes going to the matrix and i could feel the vibration of the pump.....
bearings may have worn............
is this the actual water pump or just a second pump to protected the engine!
-
it is an auxilary pump that only runs when the engine is shut down, if the engine is hot enough.
-
mmmmm i'l have to get it looked at........ its always been on with ignition comes on on turn of ignition and stays on when the engines running......
plus its starting to whine loud.........
time for lakeside vw i think!
cheers for the help........well at least i know it isnt going to blow up!
