Title: ALLOY LACQUER REMOVAL?

Got a Refurbed set of Estorils on my car when i bought it, alot of the lacquer is flaking, is there any quick and easy DIY method for removing it?......then was gonna give them a polish.

without knowing to much about it, would 'Nitromors' carefully applied be suitable? or would i risk fcuking them?...........ta

I think you would risk takeing the paint off with nitromors but I had a mate who did it on a set of wheels and he just had to wash it all off before it started to strip the paint aswell as the lacquer.

You wanna remove all the flakes with some course sand paper then smooth it all off with some fine sandpaper. Then re laquer the whole wheel, cut back and then polish. Jobs a gooden!

well i was thinking of some heavy duty sandpaper on a disc (on a drill) then finishing by hand with something fine,

when you say paint....i dont think i have any paint on mine? they have been refurbed before so only the angled bits are darker (difficult to explain)

was hoping to acheive a mirror effect, can i do this by simply sanding (to a very high level) or is it a treatment to get it to that level of shine :undecided:
