Hi, i have a Ereg 1988 8v mk2 golf gti. Im wanting to know what injection system i have (k-jetronic or Digifant) because i have lost the engine numbers and stuff. The car is some kind of special edition it has central locking, smoked back lights, striped trim, 7 spoke alloys and its metalic black, the special edition i think was due to VW selling 10 million golfs...
if any1 else has one of these or someone who knows what injection it is, it would be much appreachiated.
O yea and i would like to know the pros and cons of each injection system.
Thanx

If there are 4 metal pipes coming from the air filter area going to each cylinder like ignition lead, you have k jetronic. Digifant has a air metering unit mounted on the air filter and a common fuel supply to the injectors. Both systems seem to make the same power, prob a goverment/emissions type thing.

ill check on that 1 thanks, i bought a haynes max power golf mk2 modifying guide from halfords and in it it quotes:
k-jetronic 0-60 8.4 seconds
Digifant 0-60 9.2 seconds
I cant belive that this is right and im sure alot of people would disagree, 9.2 seconds doesnt sound like a GTI...does it???

They both sound slow to me.

and no matter how hard you try you can't put a K&N on to a k-jet. Just drill the front of the air box and have done with it. :)
-
K Jet cars have quater lights in the doors Digifants have one piece glass ;)
OP
-
digifants have electric fuel injectors which are yellow and linked to a long black fuel rail, ecu and then an airflow meter
here are some pics of k jetronic
if the airbox doesnt look like that then its a digifant!(http://umea.mine.nu/~anton/gallery/albums/Engine-room/08310005_G.sized.jpg)
